Did you know we are SMART ARTISTS here at the Village? This year your Kindergartener will learn the basic Elements of Art and the basic Principles of Design. We will also work with a variety of art materials and learn how to use them appropriately.
I have designed a curriculum that helps your young master artist to learn as they build on concepts. For example, we first learn about lines and then move to shapes and forms and so on.
Ask your child, "What is a line?" and you might get this answer:
"A line is a DOT taking a walk."
Ask your child, "What is a shape?" and you might get this answer:
"A shape is lines close up."
Please make sure to read our monthly newsletter called the "Something Special". A copy goes home with your child and some teachers post it on their classroom web page as well. I will post a copy of it on our Arts and Humanities blog.
I want to encourage you to create and let art be a part of your home and family life. Create art whenever you can... visit museums... play art games, color games, shape games and just have fun together!
